Watching on the city street how the generations meet and diverge, each with their interests and needs
I present to you one of the symbols of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The Ancient Theater is situated in the Old Town, in the saddle between the two hills – Dzhambaz and Taksim Tepe. It was built in the beginning of the 2nd century AD. It is one of the best preserved antique theaters in the world. Nowadays the antique theater is adapted to the contemporary cultural life of Plovdiv. It is the most emblematic monument of the constant cultural and historical continuity conducted in the city over the centuries. The Ancient theatre is symbolical for Plovdiv and adjusted to the city’s modern cultural life. It is operating as a stage of opera, music and drama.
