Despite modern times, Sagada folk, still observe some of the ancient burial customs and traditions of their ancestors. They have been hanging the coffins of their departed love ones inside of caves or cliffs of valleys in the belief that they put their relatives closer to heaven. Traditionally, the coffins were made by hollowing out logs that are apparently smaller than the actual size of the dead
and the dead are forced into a fetal position. It is believed that you should leave the world the way you entered as a way to bring peace to the departed soul.
