An indigenous Quechua woman of the Napo Region of Ecuador pounds the chicha, their local fermented beverage with a wooden pestle. Their homes and livelihoods come from the wood of the forests, everything from their food, homes, boats, weapons, tools, everything is wood, that is why preservation of the Amazon is critical for the survival of these indigenous people.
