The people from Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan and Several NGOs transformed their polluted shoreline as reforestation project to prevent floods and storm surges and to mitigate the effects of climate change.
The 220-hectare Mangrove forest Park serves as a sanctuary for various types of birds and marine species, thus help increase the livelihood of community who are primary dependent on ocean wealth. It also became an Eco-Tourism attractions in Kalibo.
The project was recognized by UNFAO as one of the exemplary forests managed in the whole of Asia and the Pacific; and recipient of the Golden Eagle Award for Excellence in environmental preservation.
