'St. Alexander Nevski' cathedral is the biggest orthodox church in Bulgaria, located in its capital - Sofia. It is built in Neo-Byzantine style, occupies an area of 3170 sq. m and can hold 5000 people inside. The cathedral was created in honour to the soldiers, who died during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, as a result of which Bulgaria was liberated from Ottoman rule. It is named after Alexander Nevski - a Russian prince, proclaimed a saint and a patron of Tsar Alexander II of Russia, during who's rule the Russo-Turkish War was declared.
