The Dead Forest is an area located near the Northern and Southern breaks of the Tolbachik rift, on the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia. In the middle of the last century, ancient greenwood grew here. But in 1975, the mighty volcano decided to show everyone who is the real owner of the land. As a result of a powerful eruption, the emerald treetops were buried under slags and ashes. Flowers and shrubs disappeared, lakes and rivers became a thing of the pasty, 80 hectares of forest turned into a black desert. This surreal photo of the Dead Forest is dedicated to the human attention to the power of nature, its ability to destroy any living entity, including both wildwood and homogeneous stands.
