The Museum of Axe

The creator and the main architect of this museum is Alexander Shevtsov. He tried to save the recognizable features of Russian wooden architecture of the 19th century. Architectural elements (round columns, beams) reflect the semantic content of the museum. Beams and columns were cut out by axe. The installation work was entirely manual. The museum is located in the deep forest. One column was installed by 6 men.

Creators have not removed any tree in the area. The building was inscribed at the surrounding nature.

The museum saves old crafts. In turn crafts saves rational using of the natural materials. In this place a small hemp is transformed a useful thing for life, or a children's toy.

Location: Ivanovo region, Russia.
