The photo was taken at the exhibition of the hieratic wooden (temple) sculpture at the Perm State Gallery.

The temple sculpture which is made of the local wood like linden and pine. It is an old christian tradition of Prikamie (the region of Perm Krai, Russia) that became a thing of the past in the beginning of the 20th century.

Thanks to the collection of the Perm State Gallery which became a spiritual and a material heritage of the Perm region its memoria was treasured. The image of Christ, who spent the night in the prison cell before his execution, is encompassing a grievous perplexity, a spiritual suffering and a hope, a humility and a meekness at the same time. The crucifixion that is seen through the glass wall of the cell became a symbol of the doom insight.
