Since ancient times, winemakers around the world have used oak barrels for aging wine. Wooden container gives the wine unique taste and aroma of the precious drink. No other material can replace wood in this process. Portugal is a recognized wine country and the birthplace of port. It is a reason that traditions there are kept and observed zealously. The photo was taken at a private winery in the Douro valley. The owner of the winery tries wine from grapes of the new crop, pouring it from an oak barrel. A special cellar of the winery is full of such barrels. Categories: Action Photography |
