Traditionally dressed woman demonstrating old Lithuanian traditions of wool spinning, Lithuania.

In the second half of XIX century, many sheep were reared in Lithuania, and their wool was mostly processed by women. The wool is collected, washed, loosened and then spinned.

First you need to have a sheep herd and grow it. Sheep wool is cut, washed and ground. A lot of work is done until the wool is washed, then dried up in the sun. In the past, wool was loosened. Now, when there is a machine, there is no need for it, wool is immediately spinned.
