Wood is good Wood is all around us every day and more and more of the wood we use comes from modern well-managed local forests. Those forests are great for the environment too. They support wildlife and make beautiful places for recreation. What's more, they help protect us from floods and soak up and store carbon. Wood benefits go much further too, it's also the best material to build with for the environment using much less energy than bricks or steel. Wood is infinitely renewable, it's easily reused and recycled and at the end of its life it can even be burnt to produce renewable energy. If wood didn't exist we'd invented it. Forests still support tens of thousands of jobs. By planting more trees we can improve our environment the quality of our lives and create jobs in the mills and small businesses that make the things we take for granted every day. And because the trees we plant are intended to be used we replace them with even more trees every time they're harvested. So the next time you pick up a product made of wood stop and consider where it came from. It could be closer than you think. Categories: Short Films |
